Call for Applications: Youth Impact Workshop 2014

Are you a young person living in Ghana between the ages of 16 and 20?  Are you passionate about effecting social change? Do you have a big idea?

We are excited to announce that applications for the 3rd edition of Youth Impact Workshop is open. YIW is an entrepreneurial leadership program for young people aged 16-20. The workshop is dedicated to equipping Ghanaian youth with skills which will enable them create and develop solutions to address community challenges, plan for their implementation and learn how to communicate these ideas effectively.  YIW 2014 will provide an opportunity to:

  • Learn from African Leadership Academy’s BUILD Model (entrepreneurial leadership model)
  • Visit and learn from Ghana based Startups
  • Learn from renowned Ghanaian entrepreneurs
  • Lead, Launch and implement a project that will address a need
  • Network with Ghanaian youth and Civil Society experts
  • Participate in a 6 month mentoring programme after workshop

Venue: West Africa Civil Society Institute Secretariat, East Legon, Accra.

Date: 2nd to 4th July 2014

Eligibility

  • Be between the ages of 16 and 20 as at the start date for the workshop.
  • Be living in Ghana.
  • Be able to cover their own cost of transport to and from the venue.
  • Be able to communicate in English with reasonable fluency, as this will be the primary language for communication during the workshop.
  • Be able to avail themselves at the venue for the entire duration of the workshop.
  • Apply: YIW is free for all young people and applying will enable the selection panel select best candidates.

UNAOC-EF Summer School Deadline Extended!

The UNAOC-EF Summer School Team has received applications from all over the globe, but there is still some time to apply – as they’ve just extended the application deadline to 15 June 2013 – Amazing right?

The objectives of the UNAOC-EF Summer School are to:

  • Contribute to the empowerment of young people by enhancing their intercultural skills and competences;
  • Strengthen young people’s capacity to get involved in the preparation and implementation of cooperative action across borders;
  • Facilitate networking and exchanges between young people; and
  • Develop a network of alumni and make it an important platform for joint action to help address a global challenge.

Meet Theo Pencil!

Born on the 5th of may 1993 and raised in Accra, Ghana. Theo attended firm foundation senior high school a private institution in Ghana. His name is Theophilus Boateng Kwaku Sarpong but popularly known as Theo pencil.

He discovered his talent as an artist at the age of eight years when he used to draw cartoons just for fun. Theo pencil advanced as a pencil artist at the early ages of seventeen as a self-taught artist, he is good in color works but most of his master piece arts are in pencil which inspires him allot.
At the age of nineteen, Theo pencil made presentations of realistic portraits to some popular personalities such as: Nana Akuffo Addo and honorable Shirley Ayorko Botwe.

Its amazing Theo never took any art lesson or classes. He mostly works on human figures. At the age of nineteen, he also made realistic portraits of some world’s famous personalities like:
